Expansion of Tesla Supercharger Network to More Electric Vehicle Brands

Several major automotive brands, including Lucid, Honda, and Acura, have begun offering official NACS (North American Charging Standard) adapters for their existing vehicles. This development marks a significant step as Tesla’s Supercharger network becomes more accessible to a broader range of electric vehicle (EV) owners. The move is part of a growing trend where over a dozen automakers are planning to integrate NACS charging ports into their future models, allowing them to use Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network.

In the United States alone, Tesla has more than 2,600 Supercharger stations, with nearly 32,000 charging ports spread across the country. This vast infrastructure has made Tesla’s Superchargers a go-to option for many EV drivers, but now other brands are gaining access through these new NACS adapters.

Lucid Air Gains New Features and Supercharger Access

Lucid, known for its high-performance electric vehicles, has been making waves with its Air model. Since its debut, the Lucid Air has already offered impressive range, but the 2026 model year brings even more improvements. The Air Touring variant will see a 6% increase in range, reaching a total of 431 miles. However, the most notable update is the introduction of an adapter that allows the Air to connect to Tesla’s Supercharger network, beginning on July 31.

The DC NACS to CCS1 adapter for the Lucid Air is available at a cost of $220 before taxes. Using this adapter, the Air can charge at up to 50 kW and gain up to 200 miles of range per hour, providing added convenience for long-distance travel. In addition to the Supercharger access, Lucid is making several other changes for the 2026 model year.

These include a new air conditioning compressor sourced from the Lucid Gravity, which enhances cooling performance. The company is also adding the Lucid Mobile Charging Cable Kit as standard equipment. This kit includes a NEMA 14-50 adapter that allows charging at 240 volts and 40 amps, delivering up to 40 miles of range per hour.

New wheel options, such as the five-spoke 19-inch Aeronaut wheels in Platinum and Stealth finishes, will be available for the Air Pure, Touring, and Grand Touring trims. Additionally, the Air Pure model now features DreamDrive Premium, along with a rear center console display and a new storage bin as part of its optional Comfort and Convenience Package.

Price Increases and New Features

Despite these updates, there are price increases associated with the 2026 model year. The base Pure model has seen a $1,000 increase, now starting at $72,400. The dual-motor Touring trim also increased by $1,000, now priced at $81,400. The Grand Touring AWD model experienced the largest hike, with an additional $4,000, bringing its price to $116,400.

Lucid also rolled out two new driver-assistance features: Hands-Free Drive Assist and Hands-Free Lane Change Assist for its DreamDrive Pro ADAS suite. These updates were delivered via over-the-air software updates, similar to Tesla’s approach.

Honda and Acura Join the Supercharger Network

Lucid isn’t the only brand benefiting from the expansion of the Tesla Supercharger network. Honda and Acura have also introduced NACS-CCS DC fast-charging adapters for their electric vehicles, the Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX. These adapters are now available through Honda and Acura dealerships, as well as online at the Honda DreamShop, with a $225 MSRP.

Honda and Acura emphasize the importance of using approved adapters to avoid potential damage to the vehicle. While the Tesla app is currently required to start charging, future updates will allow the use of HondaLink, Acura EV apps, and plug-and-charge capabilities.

Impact on EV Adoption

As more EV brands gain access to Tesla’s Supercharger network, it raises questions about how this will affect overall EV adoption. While convenience and accessibility are key factors, other elements such as vehicle range, pricing, and technology continue to play a significant role in consumer decisions.

With the growing availability of Tesla’s Supercharger network, it remains to be seen whether this will lead to a noticeable boost in sales for these new EV models. For now, the integration of NACS adapters represents a major step forward in making EV ownership more seamless and widespread.
